Orla Mining Ltd. is excited to share updates on its exploration activities at Camino Rojo Sulphides during the latter part of 2023.
Highlights of 2023 Exploration at Camino Rojo Sulphides (Mexico):
In 2023, Orla executed a strategic 37,677-metre drill program at Camino Rojo Sulphides, concentrating on infilling higher-grade sections to support a potential underground Mineral Resource estimate. The primary focus was to enhance the understanding of the geological controls of the deposit and explore for sulphide mineralization beyond the current open pit Mineral Resource boundaries, known as the "Camino Rojo Extension."
Results from 23 additional drill holes complement the previous 15 presented in June 2023. Infill drilling consistently revealed extensive zones of higher-grade gold mineralization (>2 g/t Au), with notable high-grade intercepts exceeding 10 g/t Au over core lengths ranging from 0.7 metres to 3.0 metres. The presence of high-grade gold results emphasizes the potential for selective underground mining techniques.
Sylvain Guerard, Orla's Senior Vice President, Exploration, stated, "New drill results at Camino Rojo are revealing more about controls on mineralization and hinting at potential for significant expansion below the current Mineral Resource in the Camino Rojo Extension."
Key Points:
Infill drilling consistently yielded long intercepts (>30 metres down holes) of greater than 2.0 grams of gold per tonne (g/t Au).
High-grade intercepts exceeding 10 g/t Au over core lengths ranging from 0.7 metres to 3.0 metres.
The 2023 drilling efforts significantly reduced overall drillhole spacing to approximately 25-30 metres within part of the Camino Rojo Sulphides.
2024 Plans for Camino Rojo Sulphides:
Orla plans to release the final assay results from the 2023 Sulphide Infill and Extension drilling programs in the coming weeks. Looking ahead to 2024, the company aims to focus on near-mine exploration, evaluating the extensive potential of the open Camino Rojo deposit and the promising Camino Rojo Extension beneath the current Sulphide mineral resource. Orla plans to execute an aggressive 30,000-metre drill program in 2024 to further investigate the exciting potential beneath the existing mineral resource.
